HomeAssure help families avoid the tragedy of foreclosure

Foreclosure is an incredibly terrible experience for any family or individual to suffer through. A foreclosure occurs when a family or individual is not able to pay their mortgage and their property is taken from them. The process of being evicted from a home can be horribly traumatic for a family or individual to experience. Some sense of stability is needed in everyone’s life—and a home is what represents stability to most people. The depressed state of the American economy has made it far more likely that a foreclosure and subsequent eviction will occur. A significant downturn in the financial and housing markets generally means bad things for lower and middle income American families. They are no longer afforded the luxury of upward mobility. Instead of being an uplifting opportunity, the economy becomes merely a means of survival. This represents a repudiation of the American dream and what is left is an American nightmare, having to work day and night so that you and your family can keep your home.

The most prominent of reasons for foreclosure are rising interest rates, unemployment, personal tragedy, and health problems. What results from foreclosure is increased instances of family instability, homelessness, loss of equity and income, and bad credit ratings.

There used to be a company, aptly named HomeAssure, that attempted to help families avoid the tragedy of foreclosure. The company is no longer in business, but they helped many families to navigate the horror of threatened foreclosure.
